I was born and raised in New York, but I now reside in Spotsylvania, Virginia. I've lived in 4 out of 5 boroughs, and somehow we've landed here in Spotsylvania. I'm a husband, and a father of two boys. My wife and I were married in our early-middlish (←I made that word up!) twenties. We were married at a court house in Maryland, and have been married for over 10 years. Ironically, we have NO wedding photos, as they were taken with those disposable cameras, and the developer destroyed them! I caught a bit of a photography bug about 2-3 years later, and I've been shooting ever since.
While I am a Virginia-based wedding photographer, I’ve traveled, and am willing to travel throughout the US and abroad.
I am a photographic recorder of your day, and as such, I have no desire to take control of your wedding. I do not want to write your story. I want to read it. I want to watch it unfold and then interpret back in that beautiful language that is photography. I am a witness; a documentarian whose work will remind you of the moments that occurred on the day when you joined hand-in-hand, and heart-in-heart...when you said, "I do."
I only ask that you live in your moment. The natural awe and wonder, the raw emotion, and the boiled up excitement that will affect your mannerisms will be more than enough content for me to capture without having to dictate your movements. The wedding images captured, as a consequence, will be authentic, uniquely yours, and based on a true story.
I enjoy leaving you and yours to enjoy your day. That's what I'm about. I think that there is so much beauty, romance, joy, and happiness that happens organically during the wedding preparations, ceremony, and reception. These are the things that inspire me on a wedding day…the things that I want to go after and collect for you.
It's important to me that you understand that I'm not a poser, and I don't even consider myself good at it. I get super inspired by the beauty of love. When a couple kisses, embraces, hold hands, and the like, my heart and mind turn on. I want to capture true joy; true laughter; intimacy. As a photographer, I am in love with that which is lovely.
While I prefer to capture candid moments between you and your party, family, and friends, at your request I will take a handful of formals as a matter of record. These formals are not elaborate in the way of jumping up and down, running to and fro, etc.. I totally recommend taking a private walk and carving out some private time for you and your new spouse on the wedding day. I would love to tag along and capture those moments for you.
