A Brown's Island Engagement Shoot in Richmond, Virginia by Virginia Wedding Photographer Josef Sullivan
Love In The Air, Joy In Their Hearts
Sophonie and Clement met up with me to have their Engagement session at Brown's Island in Richmond, Virginia. A little camera shy at first, but as time went on, and they held hands, walked, and spent time together, their love and joy for each other melted all of the shyness away. Well maybe most of it! Either way you can't tell, right? Naturals.
Like all of my clients, they hired me because they enjoyed the idea of my approach to wedding photography where it’s not too posey, but rather a candid, photojournalistic style to capturing the authentic story of their day. For the most part, this is also my approach to engagement photography. I may step in with ideas every now and again, but for the most part it’s really about bringing your love. My work really hinges on a couple’s romance, play, and loving interactions. Sure locations are great, but I’m of the opinion that it’s the togetherness; the closeness that makes all of the magic.
Speaking of locations and togetherness, I’m planning on an Iceland trip for the latter part of July. I had a couple that was going to come and have their engagement photos taken there, but they had to drop out, unfortunately. I would love to photograph a loving, romantic couple out there so if you or anyone you know is going to be out there or would like to go – I can’t pay the expenses, but the shoot would be on me – let me know! I can push it back to early August if necessary.
